·
Always go for what you’ve always felt attached to or engaged with; show others your creative side.
·
Be kind to others. Be kind to your peers, to your teachers, to your family. Kindness is making the choice to be generous with people who deserve it, and sometimes, people who don't. If you need help, reach out to your teachers. They will absolutely help you with what you need! Don't procrastinate an
·
Be prepared for anything and no matter the lack of motivation, there is always something to look forward to.
·
Be your own best friend.
·
Can't really give advice! All I can say is plan ahead and plan early.
·
Capstone can seem really overwhelming at first, but it's really what you make and take away from it. It is a great way to show your creativity and teach others about something you learned. Definitely start brainstorming ideas because your capstone might change from what you initially thought it woul
·
Capstone isn’t that difficult, choose something you’re interested in it will make it easier!
·
Choose something that interests you, something you're passionate about. Don't choose a project because you think it will be easy, choose one that you will benefit and intrigue you. Stand out, be unique, and have fun with it.
·
Determination and being honest with yourself is key—don't sign yourself up for a project that's too much to handle no matter how ideal it sounds. Choose one you won't grow tired of and can stay dedicated to through and through.
·
Do it as fast as you can because you can’t predict what can happen.
·
Do it.
·
Do not procrastinate. No matter how much you want to, don't do it. Because you're going to regret it. Ask your teachers for help because I promise you they want to help, and they want you to succeed.
·
Do what interests you, even if it has nothing to do with your House.
·
Do what you love and know.
·
Don't be too hard on yourself. If you don't meet your own expectations, or anyone else's, that isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world. Room for improvement is just that. You do what you can do, and you keep going. If someone else is accomplishing a lot, but you can't do as much, that doesn't
·
Don't do what I did, it did not work out lmao.
·
Don't get to attached to your first idea, because it's going to change and one thing I had to let go, well try to let go, was my need to have everything be perfect, because it won't be perfect but you have to still do it and can't give up.
·
Don't miss out on opportunities that I wish I have taken more advantage of. I hope by seeing all the seniors' presentations you are inspired to know what you want to do for your career.
·
Don't rush your Senior year! I was so excited for Senior year to start so that I could be done with high school. When my last year ended abruptly due to Covid-19 I realized that I wasn't ready for it to be over. I yearned to walk down the halls one last time. So, enjoy your last year in high schoo
Other values:
Don't stress too much
Don’t procrastinate!!! That was the biggest struggle for me was actually sitting down and doing the work. Also my capstone ended up changing multiple times and that’s okay. Not everything will work and all you can really do is try something else.
Find something you care about and see where it takes you.
Go to Tulsa Tech, that’s it. You always have a head start, or even it you don’t want to do it you will have a skill or trade to fall back on.
HAVE A BACKUP PLAN!! And a backup plan for that. But remember there is a such thing as too safe. Let loose but be prepared for failures and lessons.
Have fun in your capstone class but don't forget to actually do your work, and do your artifacts they will help more than you think!
Honestly, don’t take school as a joke, as much as high school is an incredible experience and such a time to be alive (you know, like the “young wild and free” quote). But please remember this a time to also represent yourself and who you are wanting to become. I know it’s silly coming from
I think that really making it about something you're already passionate about is super important. It's only as much extra work as you make it really. My paper is fairly concise but it's the accumulation of work I've been doing for a long time. Don't write it off immediately and finish it in the end,
I want to tell all the rising seniors to strive for what you want in life and don't give up because God has a plan for everyone have faith.
If anybody wants to do a virtual prom that would be cool—class of 2020 is not over yet! Keep your head up high and....WASH YO HANDS!!!!
If it's hard, the reward is more fulfilling. If you have a skill or talent, pursue it, don't wait for tomorrow or next week. All the time you have is now. Years from now when you see your practice pay off is when you truly appreciate practice.
If you're doing darkroom photography, don't give up. The stress and the aggravation is worth it. If you have given photography, especially film, a try and didn't like it—that's okay!
If your ever think about spray painting, only spray paint that which is your property. Never go around places and spray paint anything that you think will be cool/funny/a good way to get revenge. Never play around.
It's 100% okay to change your mind. And not know what you're going to do at first. I was super nervous about it and had no idea what to do. Just try some things out!
It's a little bit overwhelming, but the finished product makes everything worth it.
Make a plan at the beginning of the year, see if it is possible or acceptable, see how everything is going to work, and give it your best.
Make sure you plan out your capstone well, and set your goals reasonably accounting for personal work ethic.
My advice for the next seniors. . . hmmmm. Capstone-wise, choose something that challenges you but it also excites you. It is supposed to be something that connects to what you want to do in the future so it should be something you enjoy. For just senior year in general, enjoy the moments you have
Pick something you love doing, but maybe something you don't know much about. Then you'll be able to have your school project and also have fun while doing it. There were many times I forgot I was working for a grade and I just enjoyed what I was doing, so it still turned out great.
Pick something you love. You will be spending a lot of time at this location and it is more enjoyable if you love it.
Plan what you want to do. I have friends who are astounding in their fields and can easily create a project. They know how to do research and can acquire the skills needed to complete whatever they want. If this is not true to you, TSAS has a wonderful and talented staff willing to help you. The und
Respect your teachers, and ALL faculty! Don't vape in the bathrooms and set a good example for the classes below you. And most of all, HAVE FUN NEXT YEAR and live it up. Don't overthink the Senior Capstone, it is a great opportunity to share your voice before you head to college, and for you to do s
Start at the beginning of the year.
Start early and gradually work on it.
Start it early.
Start your capstone early in the year, be brave, and have confidence. When you enter a room, demand attention with your presence. Be the best you, you can be!
Stay true to you. What you love doing can be your Capstone and just trust the process.
Stick to what you enjoy, otherwise you'll never get it done.
Take as many notes as possible and stay organized.
There are going to be moments of frustration with essentially any project you attempt; don't let those moments prevent you from finding solutions and making progress on your work. Additionally, while you are first trying to land on a project idea, try to ensure that you are working on something that
Think of some ideas during your junior year. Start narrowing down during the summer. Also: just do it, complain all you want but don’t give your teachers a hard time lol. They don’t get paid enough...
Turn in your artifacts! They seem stupid but you will forget all of the cool stuff you have done for your project.
USE YOUR TIME WISELY! No matter how easy you think your project is, it's better to have extra time at the end instead of waiting until last second.
We’re told as seniors to get our “money up” but we’re not told don’t forget you have to feel and look good while doing it.
When you get an idea, make sure it's you—that it has a meaning to you—and make sure the people that see it know that is what you want to do in the future.
While you should have everything for the most part planned, don't go into it thinking too much and have your expectations for yourself too high. Don't freak out when things start to look different than how you originally planned it to.

I described my capstone as "a series of paintings that speak for different types of people." It was exactly as I ended up with! I wanted to expose people to the concept of our differences being skin deep. Regardless of our born identities, we aren't different. Our cultures may be different, and our

Other values:
I started off with wanting to teach myself how to crochet, but after talking with Ms Gates, she helped me to decide what I wanted to do with my Capstone.
I started with a pretty vague proposal if I recall. I said "wire-wrapping/embroidery/jewelry" project, and before that I thought about photography, but came up with my idea quite late comparatively.
I started with an animation video explaining my plan to balance my practical job with my art job.
I started with the children's museum and then I moved to art.
I started with the idea of showing a tutorial on how to bake something from scratch.
I started with the intention to write the whole book, which would look somewhere around 20 or so chapters. I knew it wouldn't have happened in the end, but I wanted to set the end goal for myself.
I started with what got me into photography and how it changed my point of view with art, and how to create stories behind the art from one’s view.
I was going to be volunteering at a local children’s museum. My capstone about this was to discuss the importance and livelihood of service to the community.
I was going to talk about dance and show my solo.
I was going to track my progress both in improvement of quality but also how my store had gone (thanks COVID).
I will give a talk about the dangers of electricity and teach my audience about amperage, voltage, and wattage. My goal is to teach in a way that all audience members can learn: visual, audial, and kinesthetic methods. Talks along with some form of presentation will fulfill two of the three categori
In my Capstone project proposal, I talked about how I planned to write at least one original song and explain the process that I went through to write and record it.
It started as a self love project, but over time I realized that it wouldn't be possible to finish in quarantine. So, I decided to make a photography website
It was about old English vs new English at first, but then I loved Discovery Lab so I did that instead.
It was supposed to be like a Ted Talk where I would have more visuals and charts, but I didn't have as much time to put it together so I did the best I could.
Making a water to combustible gas conversion engine.
Music to Darkroom photography
My capstone project was an indoor irrigation system for the plants on top of the book shelves in the Commons. The irrigation system was to be automated and would only need for the reservoir to be filled every so often; everything else would be taken care of by the system. The system would run off of
My experience the same as I finished it.
My initial idea was to document the process of becoming a shift supervisor at Starbucks, but because my store was in need of a supervisor and everyone I worked with was waiting on me to turn 18 so I could promote anyway, I ended up skipping a lot of the process. Since COVID -19 I am beyond proud to
My initial plan was to create a book where I put my photography and literature media all together.
My original project was going to be a video game coded in C# with a team of two other people aiding in code, assets, and sound design.
My original proposal was learning how to clog and working on my speed and my knowledge of a different dancing type.
My proposal was a history of art and why people keep making it.
Originally, I proposed teaching incarcerated women speech and debate as my documented capstone experience. I planned on teaching two units—a beginner and an advanced class—that met once a week at either David L. Moss Correctional Center in Tulsa or Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud.
Originally, I wanted to just print out pictures of the teachers I've had and get some tracing paper and trace it onto the canvas.
Originally, my capstone started out with expanding my skill set with different kinds of printmaking to expand my portfolio. I had planned on doing three linoleum prints, three etchings, and printing on textile with soft blocks. The linoleum and the etching pieces were going to be a series of three,
Photography was the starting project and is the continued project.
Starting a Photography Business
The first project I had decided on was to make a book of simple pleasures, in order to create something that could have a positive impact on both me and other people. In a way I came back around to that same theme although centralized on gardening and horticulture.
This project is intended to bring awareness to the problems with our death investigation system, because there are many. This is not a common topic of conversation so not many people are aware of these issues and that is a problem.
Well, when I first did my proposal I first was planning on doing it on what I learned from the EMSA program, but I felt like it wasn't enough information for it.
