Don't get to attached to your first idea, because it's going to change and one thing I had to let go, well try to let go, was my need to have everything be perfect, because it won't be perfect but you have to still do it and can't give up. (1) ·
Plan what you want to do. I have friends who are astounding in their fields and can easily create a project. I have been a Starbucks Partner for over two years, of that I was a barista for 11 months, a trainer for 9 and a Supervisor for the last 6. It took two separate interviews with two different store managers to finally get the job, but as soon as I did I fell in love with the job, my store, and cowork (1) ·
In a series of paintings with TSAS subjects, I wanted to showcase many (but not all) people with different background and ethnicity. My capstone is my depop shop. I started making jewelry sophomore year, and selling it. This year I expanded it by learning other skills, such as sewing stuffed animals and embroidery. My initial idea was to document the process of becoming a shift supervisor at Starbucks, but because my store was in need of a supervisor and everyone I worked with was waiting on me to turn 18 so I could promote anyway, I ended up skipping a lot of the process. I started with a simpler version of this talk because I was going to add an example of what I'm teaching. My goal was to teach the audience with visual, audial, and kinesthetic points for each type of learner. I was going to create a device capable of shocking you at almost any safe voltage and ampe (1) ·
Not everything went exactly as I planned it! While I didn't ever change the premise of my Capstone, I had a lot of issues with productivity and eventually, a lack of supplies. I went from aiming for 24-25 models, down to 18, and finally, 16. I think, on my part, I was trying too hard and trying to d (1) ·
So it was going as planned, and I even had a backup which is my book I'm writing but I didn't finish my book in time and I wasn't really impressed my how I wrote in my blog, so I changed it to my depop shop, that way all my work is the same but just presented in a different fashion. (1) ·
Things absolutely did not go as planned, and I changed my project idea multiple times. In the end, a combination of procrastination, executive dysfunction, depression, and inability to focus left me with nothing to work with and little time to put something together. As I put this project together (gather photos and look through artifacts) I am realizing more and more that my coworkers are the best part of my job. From starting as a barista and working alongside most of them to learning from my supervisors (and friends) to becoming one of them. All of my barista (1) ·
I knew the information I was providing beforehand, but I learned quite a lot through the process of trying to share that knowledge with others. creating a talk that has a lot of information in it was proven counterproductive as people may get more confused or less drawn toward the subject. It was a (1) ·
I learned that it is a lot harder to do something than to say you're going to do them. I wanted to compensate for what I felt insecure about, and struggled a lot because of it. I think my takeaway, really, is to pace myself. I would go between periods of excess and then nothing at all, and felt a lo (1) ·
The project is nothing like I pictured it would be in the beginning, but I think that's okay. The purpose of capstone was to get us to do something new, and, in kind of an indirect way, I have done that. Hopefully that will be enough. Nothing about this end to my senior year is really satisfying or (1) ·
Well I learned how to embroider, and a bunch of other little skills like that. I also have been able to explore subcultures that I enjoy through fashion, and making mainly jewelry based off of them. It, over all, was a really fun project and I got to know myself better through it. (1)
